This software is released into the public domain without any warranty, either explicit or implied. Use it at your own risk. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO BACK UP YOUR HARD DISKS PRIOR TO USE OR INSTALL OF THIS PACKAGE. You cannot get money for use or distribution of this software. The source codes for all the executables are in public domain but not included in this distribution. The author of the converter is available at ilya@math.mit.edu. He waits your comments, bug reports, updates and corrections. This software contains A LOT OF BUGS, but most are avoidable after some experience. To install this system insert into Your AUTOEXEC.BAT file the string SET CHI2TEX=Name_Of_Your_Directory_For_Storing_Of_Chi2TeX If the memory for environment is tight (i.e., You get a message Out of environment space), try to increese this space by inserting in CONFIG.SYS the string shell=command.com /E:1000 /P After this make this directory, stand in it and type a:install a: (if the installation disk is in a:). Move file m.bat to the path directory. In fact the only thing you NEED to install is util.zip: unzip it to %chi2tex%\util directory. (I.e., util subdirectory in the path specified to the variable chi2tex.) LAST-MINUTE UPDATES. Aug. 1992 we use another make with a lot of bugs. Therefore partial compilation is not working on my hardware. Sep. 1990 Now it is possible to insert mathematics in standart font. In the reasonable places the convertion to math will be done. Font that can be converted must be included in the RE directive in conversion table. Currently fonts of types STANDARD and BOLD are converted. If you want to convert another font in another language, insert NW directive and new table of short words, followed by EN and RE directive. It can be useful for a fight with typist error, i.e., the inserting of cyrillic letter instead of similar latin in a formula. Three sequential HARD SPACES will be converted to \quad, five or more - to \qquad. Spaces inside matrix will be converted to &, so if your input must contain matrix entry with inserted space, use tie characted (SYMBOL t or DRAWSYM ^) instead. You can overwrite these features by commenting out correspondingly RE directive in chi2tex?.cnv, or ; The area for COMMENTING OUT ; (*< >,<\qquad >); for qquad (*< >,<\quad >); for quad ; ; The area for COMMENTING OUT - end in chi2tex?.mc, or ; The area for COMMENTING OUT (+< >); ; The area for COMMENTING OUT - end ; The area for COMMENTING OUT (-< >); ; The area for COMMENTING OUT - end in chi2tex?.mc. The comment character is ";".
