Installing and Running Mathinst (August 1998) ============================================= Make sure your version of TeX understands virtual fonts and has been configured to read files from both the current directory and parent directory. You'll also need Perl and fontinst.sty. Your text fonts must have been installed either using the current author's vfinst utility or Sebastian Rahtz's psnfss using the fontname conventions. The raw math fonts---either MathTime, Euler, Lucida New Math, or Mathematica---need to have been installed. 1. Create a mathinst directory some place on your disk, and place all the mathinst files here. 2. Create a work directory below this, and go here to do all yor work. 3. Issue the command perl ../mathinst where is one of mt, eu, lu, or ma (for MathTime, Euler, Lucida New Math, or Mathematica) and where is the fontname 3-character designation for the text fonts. (Examples: perl ../mathinst mt ptm creates math fonts combining MathTime and Adobe times Romanl; perl ../mathinst eu ppl creates math fonts combining Euler with Palatino.) 4. Follow the instructions on your console. Enjoy! ---Alan Hoenig (author) ajhjj@cunyvm.cuny.edu
